Hey!
I know I'm very late to the discussion, but I recently decided to build something like this. In my play-testing, I found that Tendrils of Agony can be an insane finisher if you can keep going off with Edgewalker/Phyrexian Altar and Remembrance, or Thrumming Stone. This works especially well if you have a player who is low on life and they have to keep giving you your Apostles back. Let me know what you think!

Look at oracle texts :)

Teysa:
Whenever another black creature you control dies, put a 1/1 white Spirit creature token with flying onto the battlefield.

Athreos:
Whenever another creature you own dies, return it to your hand unless target opponent pays 3 life.

A bit of a difference on colour and control V owns, but they trigger on the same events.

I don't think so, Athreos triggers on death, teysa only triggers when something is put in the graveyard. So athreos's trigger would intercept any dead creatures before they hit the yard. Maybe I'm wrong though, IDK.

Remember the god is a trigger not a replacement, so you get the spirits either way :)

How about Teysa? It's maybe not as consistent as Xathrid, but it give much greater incentive for people to give you your apostles back.

If you've got Athreos out, enemy options after a sac are basically give you the cards back, or take 18 damage, give you 6 1/1 fliers, and the option to destroy two creatures.

Odds are you'll get the apostles back, which means you can just keep pulling out bigger and better demons.

Thanks for the suggestion! It's a pretty good idea although I wish it was a little more targeted and less "hit everyone at the table" just because I'm not sure the deck can handle making a lot of different players mad. Still I like how you're thinking. Good idea!

Hey! I recently found this podcast, and absolutely love it. One card I thought might be good in this deck is Fate Unraveler, as another way to get some incidental damage through. It seems pretty innocuous so people normally let it stick around for awhile before they kill it. Sadly I can't think of any hasty power bumping artifacts. Good luck!
