Great podcast, but I wish you guys would've mentioned Ixidron as a good counter to Voltron strategies. It's so effective yet relatively obscure, so I think it would've benefited from a plug-in.

My fist edh deck I built was zero helmsmasher. Combined with wrath effects and assault suit and swift foot boots or lighting greaves. On turn 4 or 5 he was live with assault suit. So I would turn him loose to everyone else and watch him do some damage. By the time I got him back some one was either dead or was one attack away from death.

Another great episode, guys. I think I was one of the people who complained about my favorite token based commander not getting mentioned in the last podcast, but I get that you just can't mention every single relevant card in the long history of magic. Anyway, another Voltron-ish style I'm trying to make work is focusing on a commander's ability, and trying to make it go off as as much as possible. Playing a card like Rubinia Soulsinger fits. At first glance her ability should only work once each turn, but if you build the whole deck around sacrifice outlets and untapping her, you can dominate and sac a whole board in one turn. Something like Phyrexian Altar + Freed from the Real becomes an infinite dominate and sac combo.

One Voltron strategy is using wrath effects paired with some form of indestructibility. Pairing Worldslayer or some other wrath effect with Blightsteel Colossus or Avacyn, Angel of Hope essentially wins you the game. My personal favorite is Taniwha.

Great podcast guys, as ever. Other cool voltron commanders also worth mentioning are the obvious: Thrun, the Last Troll, Geist of Saint Traft and Zur the Enchanter and the often overlooked: Godo, Bandit Warlord, Daxos of Meletis, Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer, Lazav, Dimir Mastermind, Varolz, the Scar Striped, Krond the Dawn-Clad and Skullbriar, the Walking Grave.

Great episode, it's so fun to see how far you've guys have come (started listening around episode 10 ;)). I play a Uril deck myself and I really recomend any player trying him! Sure there are more competitive decks out there but it was my first deck and will always have a special place in my heart.

One card I think any voltron deck with green in it should have is Tajuru Preserver, it's in my Uril deck (along with Sigarda), but my meta is heavy on edict-effects.

Valorous Voltron, Voltron Vanguard, Venerate Voltron, Virulent Voltron. How come when people talk about Voltron they don't draw parallels to power rangers? I feel like that is the easiest comparison and yet I never hear anyone make it. As a long time Voltron player I really enjoyed this episode.

Uril has won me countless games. I had a great game last week where an opponent was attempting to tuck Uril. I had all lands in my hand so I decided to let Uril shuffle in because sending him back to the command zone would still pose a threat to the table. So when I shuffled him in the table just ignored me for 10 turns and allowed me to pillow fort behind ghostly prison and sphere of safety. Eventually I redrew Uril and then waited until I could cast him and load him up and 1 shot the 1 person who could stop me and then I killed the rest of the table.
